Foundational Coach Training for
Ministry Leaders
What is VisionSynergy FOCOS?
FOCOS is a 1-year coach training program designed to increase your effectiveness as a ministry leader through experiencing, practicing, and applying a coaching approach in your leadership context.
VisionSynergy FOCOS is a training partnership between VisionSynergy and FOCOS. The partnership is designed to equip collaborative leaders and network coaches with critical, 21st century coaching and leadership skills. Qualified graduates are invited to contract with visionSynergy to coach 2 - 3 ministry network leaders for two years in exchange for a sliding scale program discount and a small coaching stipend.
This training provides foundational and advanced coaching competencies which you can use to:
Develop a coaching value-set that fits your belief system and cross-cultural context
Create authentic relational environments that catalyze transformation
Assist leaders and staff in clarifying their goals and forming effective action plans
Broaden someone’s perspective through intuitive listening and asking of powerful questions
Gain commitment, maintain motivation, and build support structures for lasting change
Learn how to provide feedback, affirmation, accountability, perspective shifts, and support in ways that helps others

Since founders Wolfgang Jani and Tina Horst launched FOCOS in 2010, over 500 ministry leaders from Asia, Europe, and North America have completed the FOCOS training. Their passion is to see thousands of coaches and coaching-trained ministry leaders working for transformation around the world.
visionSynergy’s passion is to see gospel-focused ministry networks launched in strategic areas of world mission.
Together, we seek to equip ministry and network leaders with the practical coaching skills to help them effectively launch and lead collaborative ministry programs, partnerships, and networks serving unreached peoples and places.
Program Overview
This powerful, one-year online, cohort-based, coach training program starts April 17, 2024. The application deadline is March 10, 2024.
Attend from anywhere via Zoom and the internet
During FOCOS, you will experience being coached, develop practical coaching skills, work with actual clients, and receive mentoring from mentor coaches and peers.
Phase One ( April 17, 2024 - Aug 18, 2024)
Provides personal coaching, tele-classes, and discussion / practice connect groups.
Phase Two (August 19-23, 2024)
This phase consists of an online, 5-day, intensive workshop delivered through Zoom.
Phase Three (August 24, 2024 - April 9, 2025)
This phase emphasizes tele-classes, practice coaching clients, peer discussions, and mentor coaching to deepen and extend the learning experience.
Who is FOCOS for?
Network leaders seeking to coach partners, mobilize your network, and strengthen member engagement.
Regional, national, and local ministry leaders who want to use a coach approach to staff and leader development.
Member Care providers who regularly meet with staff and ministry leaders and want more fruitful conversations.
Organizational / School leaders who provide leadership and staff training and want to increase their effectiveness.
Pioneers starting a new ministry or ministry location who want to increase their leadership effectiveness by using coaching skills with fellow leaders and staff.
How much does it cost?
The cost for this proven coach training program is normally $1,900 USD. FOCOS offers the course to ministry leaders at a steeply discounted rate of $1,397 USD.
VisionSynergy will provide a sliding scale discount for qualified leaders who commit to coaching 2 - 3 network leaders via Zoom for at least 18 months after program completion.
Coaches also receive a small per client coaching stipend. Options are available to pay the fee in three installments.

Partner with VisionSynergy to build your coaching skills, coach catalytic ministry leaders around the world, and become part of the visionSynergy coaching community.
We, in partnership with FOCOS, are training qualified new coaches who will make a two-year commitment to coaching catalytic network leaders throughout the Middle East, North Africa, West Africa, and South Asia. Qualified coaches would receive a program discount and a small coaching stipend.
